工人与就业Extra hazard pay for health workers in declared disasters — up to $13 an hour, capped at $25,000 a year.
工人与就业
Health workers who can't work from home could get up to $13 more an hour, capped at $25,000 a year. It applies only if HHS finds the work or commute dangerous during a declared emergency. Their employer must also get a grant.
Employers that get a grant could also spend it on protective gear and other ways to keep workers safe. That includes other ways to get to work when the usual trip is risky.
关于本法案的更多内容
If you work in health care and can't do your job from home, you could get extra hazard pay during a declared emergency or disaster. It would be up to $13 an hour on top of your normal pay. No worker could get more than $25,000 a year this way. The money would come through your employer, and only if it gets a federal grant. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) could give these grants to public or nonprofit health care sites and to home health agencies. HHS would first have to find that the work, or the trip to work, is dangerous. Covered workers include health care providers, direct care workers, lab staff, public health workers, orderlies, and cleaning staff in health care settings. Grants could also pay for protective gear and safer ways to get to work. Disasters declared by the President count. So do ones declared by states, cities, territories, or Tribes. The bill sets no dollar amount; Congress would decide how much to spend.
国会摘要
Hazard Pay for Health Care Heroes Act This bill authorizes grants to support hazard pay and safety measures for essential health care workers whose work or commute is hazardous due to a declared emergency or disaster. Essential health care workers include health care providers, public health workers, janitorial staff in health care settings, and other roles essential to the care of patients or maintenance of public health that cannot be conducted remotely. Specifically, the Department of Health and Human Services may award grants to public or private nonprofit health care facilities and home health agencies for providing hazard pay to essential health care workers working or commuting in such conditions. Recipients may also use funds for safety measures to protect health care workers from such hazards (e.g., alternative transit options and personal protective equipment).
