YourVoice.Now Summary
Gives a Congressional Gold Medal to the 761st Tank Battalion, the first Black U.S. tank unit to fight in WWII
The details
Most people would see no change in daily life. This bill honors the 761st Tank Battalion with a Congressional Gold Medal. The "Black Panthers" were the first Black soldiers to go to war in an American tank unit. They fought 183 days straight in Europe during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge. The U.S. Mint would make the gold medal. It would then go to the National Museum of African American History and Culture for display and research. The Mint could also sell bronze copies at a price that covers their cost. The medals would be paid for from the Mint's own fund, and sales money would go back into it.
