Each report must have a secret section for sensitive details. A public summary is allowed but not required. The findings may stay out of view.
More about this bill
Nothing here changes your money, your paperwork, or your rights. The bill tells three federal agencies to write a defense plan. The target is criminals who use artificial intelligence to steal money and spread false information. The Treasury, Homeland Security, and Commerce departments would build the plan together. The first report to Congress would be due 180 days after the bill becomes law, then one each year. Each report must weigh threats like deepfakes, cloned voices, fake identities, faked caller ID numbers, and scams that could rattle markets. It must also list the staff and technology agencies already have, and what more they would need. Part of each report would stay classified. Ninety days after each report, the three departments would send Congress ideas for new laws. The bill sets no new rules for companies. It adds no new money.
