STOP Violence Act of 2025

YourVoice.Now Summary

Up to $20M a year of existing crime grants would help churches, schools, and stores prepare for mass shootings.

The details

Places where crowds gather, like churches, schools, stores, and stadiums, could get help to prepare for mass shootings and other attacks. Up to $20 million a year would go to states, local governments, and victim-service nonprofits. They would pass it on as training, expert advice, and payments to those places. The money is not new. It would be set aside from an existing Justice Department grant pool for state and local crime fighting. That leaves less for the pool's other uses. The bill also defines terms like "active shooter" and "mass violence" for this grant.
