Harvest to Hue Act

YourVoice.Now Summary

Tells USDA to help U.S. farmers grow crops used for natural food colors — no new money or rules

The details

Most people would see no direct change in daily life. The Department of Agriculture would have to help U.S. farmers grow more crops that can be turned into natural food colors. These are colors for food that come from farm products. The department would work with other agencies, farmers, and food companies to help make these colors. It would also aim some of its research at this goal, using only the research it can already do. No new money is set aside. No new rules apply to farms or food makers.

Congressional Summary

Harvest to Hue Act This bill directs the Department of Agriculture (USDA) to enhance the capacity of U.S. farmers to produce color additives which are derived from agricultural components. (The bill refers to these as natural color additives.) Specifically, USDA must (1) facilitate these efforts within the department; (2) promote collaboration among USDA, other federal agencies, agriculture producers, and food industry partners; and (3) focus research initiatives, within existing research capabilities, to support these efforts.

Like reading a bill in plain English?

We're building an app that does this for every bill in Congress and lets you tell your reps how you want them to vote. We're a small team getting ready to launch, and we're trying to show investors that real people want this. Be one of them. Help us get it built. Leave your email and we'll tell you the moment the app is ready.

By default, we'll only email you once — when the app launches. Unless you opt in below, you won't receive anything else. We don't share or sell your email.
