The U.S. Department of Agriculture would have to run a nationwide survey of grape production within one year and post the results publicly online. The survey would cover total acreage and break out production, use, acreage, variety, county, and year planted for every state. For the next three years after that, USDA would publish data from the top five grape-producing states each year. The bill authorizes $2.5 million for the initial survey and $1.5 million per year through fiscal year 2030 for ongoing publication, giving growers, wineries, and researchers a clearer picture of the U.S. grape industry.
