The Government Accountability Office (GAO) would look at how well the government helps deployed troops cast their ballots. It would count how many military ballots are thrown out, and why. The GAO would also check whether troops and their families get the voter sign-up help the law already requires. It would review how well military Voting Assistance Officers do that job. And it would put a price tag on fixing what it finds. The report is due to two committees in Congress by September 30, 2027. Any real change to military voting would take a separate law.
