More about this bill
If you are Hispanic or Latino, you might see new mental health outreach made for your community. Most other people would see no change in daily life. The federal official who leads mental health and addiction programs would create a plan to fight shame around mental illness. The plan would also target shame around drug and alcohol use. Latino health and advocacy groups would help build it. The materials would fit different cultures, languages, and ages. They would help people spot signs of common mental illnesses. They would also point to proven treatments that fit a person's culture and language. Community members would help make the materials. Each year, starting within one year after the bill becomes law, the agency would report on whether the plan helped. That report would go to Congress and be posted for the public. The bill would allow up to $1 million for this, for the 2026 budget year only. That budget year ended on September 30, 2026.
