More about this bill
If your child under 6 is in childcare, Head Start, or pre-K, their caregivers could get training on healthy food and active play. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) would give 5-year grants to nonprofits and colleges with child health know-how. Those groups would coach childcare workers. They would help states connect child care programs to food and nutrition help. They would also test new ways to curb child hunger and weight gain. The bill allows up to $5 million a year from 2026 through 2030. It adds $1.7 million in 2026 to track how states are doing. Before any grants go out, the CDC must hire an outside group to check that grantees follow the rules. That group would also measure results. Grantees must work with partners in both rural and city areas. The CDC would report the results to Congress within a year after the programs end.
