Behavioral Health Crisis Care Centers Act of 2025

YourVoice.Now Summary

Your MoneyCivil Liberties

Walk-in crisis centers for mental health and addiction, with housing help — $11.5 billion a year for five years

Your Money

Walk-in mental health and addiction crisis centers — $11.5 billion a year

Local and state governments could use the money to build or run centers that treat mental health and drug problems in one place. The money would flow each year from 2026 through 2030.

Housing help for people in crisis — money for a place to live

Centers could pay for housing for the people they serve, not just treatment. Each plan must explain how it would put homeless adults in housing first, and how it would give young people short-term housing.

Civil Liberties

Protection from bias at crisis centers — includes gender identity

No one could be shut out of a funded program because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, or disability. Sex here includes sexual orientation and gender identity.

More about this bill

If you or someone you love faces a mental health or drug crisis, more towns could open one place to get help. These walk-in crisis centers would offer treatment, counseling, and housing help under one roof. They could also offer legal aid and drugs that treat opioid addiction. The federal health department would hand out $11.5 billion a year from 2026 through 2030. Cities, counties, states, tribes, and U.S. territories would split the money, mostly by population. To get it, they must plan how to steer people in crisis away from jails and emergency rooms. Homeless adults would be offered housing first. Centers could not turn anyone away for race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

Congressional Summary
