Medicare would cover up to 20 of these visits a year, starting January 1, 2028. It would also cover four counseling visits from a kidney-care social worker in your first 60 days. The dialysis help is meant for your first 30 days at home. It would also be available any time a physical limitation is what stops you. People who live in a nursing home would not qualify. Medicare would pay dialysis providers extra for both services, more in rural areas than in cities. That extra money would not come out of other dialysis payments.
