Antitrust laws are the rules that prevent monopolies and block illegal corporate mergers from crushing competition. This legislation requires the Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission to report every two years on how their antitrust enforcement is working specifically for small businesses — including how many complaints small businesses filed, how many led to investigations, and what actions were taken. The SBA's independent advocacy office must then analyze those reports and send Congress concrete recommendations for strengthening competition policy on behalf of small businesses.
