More about this bill

Your child's school could get free federal help to guard against hackers and ransomware. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA, the federal cyber-defense agency) would run the program. It would set up security tools for schools. It would also offer protection services and staff training. CISA would work through outside groups that share cyber threat information. CISA would also open a public website with safety tips, training, and a list of grants schools can apply for. Schools could choose to report hacks to a new list kept by CISA. Each year, CISA would post reports online on school cyberattacks and on how the program is doing. Those reports would leave out details that identify people. Congress could spend up to $10 million a year on this in 2027 and 2028.
