Recognizing and honoring National Mushroom Day and the contributions of Chester and Berks Counties to the national mushroom industry and to healthy diets.

This resolution recognizes June 1 as National Mushroom Day and honors Chester and Berks Counties in Pennsylvania, where more than 60 percent of all U.S. mushrooms are grown. It points to the roughly 10,000 workers employed in the regional mushroom industry and an estimated $2.7 billion in annual economic impact in Chester County alone. The text also nods to the multigenerational family farms in the area and the nutritional value of mushrooms in everyday diets. It is a non-binding statement of recognition with no funding or rule changes.
