Servicewomen and Veterans Menopause Research Act

YourVoice.Now SummaryTransparency & Accountability

Women who served in the military may experience menopause differently than the general population due to factors like combat exposure, burn pits, and PFAS chemicals, but research into these connections has been limited. This bill requires the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs to evaluate existing research on menopause and mid-life women's health for servicewomen and veterans, and to identify gaps in knowledge and treatment options. Both agencies must then submit reports to Congress within 180 days of the bill's enactment, along with a strategic plan to close those research gaps and improve care. The bill also asks both agencies to strengthen training for military and VA healthcare providers on menopause-related symptoms and treatment.
