USMCA Travel and Tourism Resiliency Act

YourVoice.Now Summary

Corporate Benefits

A push for a new U.S.-Canada-Mexico tourism working group — no money, no new rules, nothing changes for travelers.

Corporate Benefits

Travel industry's say in new trade talks — advice required

The working group would have to ask travel and tourism businesses for advice, and on the U.S. side that would have to include the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board. None of it happens unless Canada and Mexico agree to set the group up at the next joint review of the trade deal.

More about this bill

Most people would notice no change in daily life. The bill would direct the U.S. Trade Representative to press for a new travel and tourism working group. That push would come at the first joint review of the trade deal with Canada and Mexico after the bill became law. Officials from all three countries would lead the group together. On the U.S. side, it would draw from seven agencies, including Commerce, State, Homeland Security, Labor, and Transportation. The President could add others. The group would meet at least once a year. It would have to seek advice from travel and tourism businesses. On the U.S. side, that would have to include the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board. U.S. members would also have to brief and consult four named committees of Congress on the group's work. The bill sets aside no money. It changes no travel, visa, or trade rule. The group would exist only if Canada and Mexico agreed to it.
