YourVoice.Now SummaryCivil LibertiesTransparency & Accountability

Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act — the program that allows warrantless surveillance of foreign targets, with U.S. persons' communications often swept up incidentally — was set to expire on April 30, 2026. This short bill pushes that expiration to June 12, 2026, a six-week extension. It does not change what §702 surveils, who it targets, or how the program is overseen — it simply keeps the program alive while Congress works on a longer-term reauthorization or reform package. The extension covers both the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and the related Wiretap Act provisions.
