The details

Most people would see no change in daily life. The Senate passed this resolution to honor the 67 people who died in a mid-air crash over the Potomac River. An Army Black Hawk helicopter and American Airlines Flight 5342 collided near Reagan National Airport on January 29, 2025. The flight had come from Wichita, Kansas. All 64 people on the plane died. So did all 3 crew members on the helicopter. Among the dead were 11 young figure skaters, along with parents and coaches. Three Army soldiers were also killed. The Senate thanks the more than 1,700 first responders and investigators who helped. It also says it will turn the safety lessons from the crash into action. The Senate agreed to the resolution one year after the crash, on January 29, 2026. No money is spent and no rules change.
