Higit pa tungkol sa panukalang ito

If you, your spouse, or a dependent is blind, you could get a federal tax credit for tech that makes visual information usable. It covers hardware or software you pay for yourself, up to $2,000 per blind person every three years. The credit is refundable, so you could get the money even if you owe no income tax. The credit would start with the 2026 tax year. Starting in 2027, the $2,000 cap would rise with inflation. You could not claim costs that insurance pays for. You also could not claim costs you already deduct or get another tax credit for. The credit would end after the 2030 tax year. Who counts as blind follows the tax code's existing definition.

The tax credit is limited to (1) amounts paid that are not compensated by insurance or otherwise, and (2) an aggregate amount of $2,000 (adjusted for inflation) per blind individual in any period of three consecutive taxable years.
