Ang Iyong PeraKalayaang SibilTransparensiya at PananagutanA new HHS office would help people find reproductive care, including abortion, and track health misinformation
Ang Iyong Pera
The office would tell people how to reach clinics that offer this care, including ones paid through Title X. It would also point people to abortion funds.
The office would share facts that are backed by science about abortion pills. That includes pills taken outside a doctor's office or clinic.
Kalayaang Sibil
The office would gather health claims about sex and pregnancy that it finds are not backed by science. It would also work to address them. The bill does not say how.
The office would team up with the Federal Trade Commission to look for privacy and consumer problems in this kind of care. It must follow federal privacy laws in its own work.
The office may not gather facts that name or point to a single patient. No one would have to hand that kind of data over to it.
Transparensiya at Pananagutan
The office would work with the Labor and Treasury departments and state insurance officials. They would look at what health plans cover for this care and where the gaps are. Plans run by the government, plans for federal workers, job plans, and plans people buy on their own all count.
The office could ask the HHS Inspector General to look into problems tied to its work. The Inspector General is the agency's own watchdog.
Higit pa tungkol sa panukalang ito
If you need care tied to sex, pregnancy, or abortion, a new federal health office would help you find it. It would sit inside the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). It would point people to clinics, abortion funds, and providers paid through a federal grant program (Title X). It would share facts backed by science, including on abortion pills taken outside a clinic. It would also look at where health plans fall short in covering this care. That review would cover government health programs, federal workers' plans, job plans, and plans people buy on their own. The office would be led by an official called the Ombuds, who reports straight to the HHS Secretary. This person must have shown a commitment to care that includes abortion. That commitment must also cover care for LGBTQ+ people, minorities, people with disabilities, and people with low incomes. The office would track false health claims in this area and respond to them. It would work with the Federal Trade Commission on privacy and consumer concerns. It could not collect records on single patients. It would report to Congress each year.
